I'm a Star Trek fan. There's nothing like the original Star Trek with Captain Kirk although Star Wars isn't far behind. I just have more invested in Star Trek. And I had a crush on Captain James T. Kirk.

Philosophy for Dummies. Please, hold the laughter or applause. I sort of felt awkward handing the book to the check-out girl. It's like admitting that you're a dummy and you know nothing about philosophy, which I don't, so it's not really far from the truth. Look at me trying to get thinking.

Now look at me wasting time. I should be studying for my exams. Oh, well. I need Procrastination for Dummies, and that's not me trying to be a smartass.

After going to their website looking for the link, I found some interesting book titles. (I did not find anything on procrastination). Here's one:

• Breastfeeding for Dummies Wouldn't this only really apply to women? I take it back; they also have one on pregnancy. Nevermind.

On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be making fun. I did check out Philosophy for Dummies.

Great news. The Simpsons is coming to theatres, as they say. Will the movie be in the same grand tradition as Beavis and Butt-head Do America? Well, I hope so. By the way, B & B and Singled Out from MTV of yore are the two programs I miss. Those were good times. Good times.

It seems that I have gotten lazier. I haven't done anything for school yet although this is the first week. But, I feel that this semester is going to be a long one. Long and painful. It's like senioritis. I have no will to do any work what so ever. Procrastination is already a problem. It could only get worse.

huh?: babes or breaking news

Here's what I love about the New York Times: I could be reading a really serious article, say about the war, and right next to that article is an ad featuring a women, say Adriana Lima (or others) wearing only bra and underwear, smiling seductively.

Oh, the joys of news.

What's that about? Gee, I wonder what I should be paying attention to. Isn't it distracting? I would think that news, say the War in Iraq, takes precedent over breasts. And I thought the NYT were suppose to be a respectable newspaper. (Regardless, the NYT is still my homepage).

Ah, the joys of advertising.

Choices: Which major do I choose?

First, which college/university do I go to? Arggghhhh....(pulls hair out). Do I choose the uni that has the major I might be interested in and has a wide choice of subjects that also look interesting, but that is farther away, and I'll have to live there or commute. The problem with commuting (I think about an hour each way, not bad considering) is obvious. Or, do I chose the uni that is in the same area, and I think less than 30 minutes or so away. But there is a limited choice of majors and interests. It's a great technical sort of school for technical degrees and majors. The uni further away is a great choice if I want to major in liberal arts sort of majors (my adviser told me that if I wanted to take History and English sort of majors then this uni is the way to go. My career counselor says this uni is also a good school). There, that's two points. The major problem is the distance. I know a lot of people in the second uni, though.

Second, what do I major in? International Studies is my first choice. I think it's in line with my situation right now. It feels right. I've told myself that if I don't find or can't decide on a major, I'll major in History. My plan B. My backup. Geography, Environmental Science, Interdisciplinary, or (possibly, but unlikely) English are other possiblities. Imagine that! I'm thinking about majoring in English. Who'd have thought! I ruled out Business because I have zero interest in it. Public Admin is a possible graduate degree if I want to get involve with non-profit sort of organizations, which I would love to do. That would be my dream job. Although I might want to do something in the environmental realm. Like Green Peace, but less radical (well, maybe that's not the right word for it). What about WWF. I love their work.

I think a liberal arts undergrad degree is the right way to go for me because I really have no clue where I'm headed. Pretty sure I'll want/need a graduate degree to narrow down my interest.

I've decided to spoof things up around here. I've experimented with the color scheme and the fonts. Mostly because I downloaded new fonts yesterday. I realize that some of the fonts may be considered "girlish" because they have stars or astrixes?, but I am a girl; therefore, I am unabashingly shameless about how "girly" my blog may look.

The Ninjas are BACK!

The most amazing thing happened. I was transported back into my childhood when I saw THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES on TV again.

It's about time. But I think this is the NEW AND IMPROVE version. What's with their eyes? Before the turtles were lovable creatures and now they have turned into dark and mysterious (and kinda creepy) super heroes. Plus, now April is a brunette. Ohhh...I get it. I've only seen one episode and not in it's entirety either, but I hope they still are still their-pizza-loving-self.

*Because the turtles are named after some of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance (I'm not sure about Donatello; doesn't reading that conjure up weird images? "Turtles" and "greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance."), it only makes sense that they would like pizza. Right? Came up with that all by myself :)

Plus, I loved their old theme song but all I can remember are the phrases if I remember correctly: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...So catchy, and ultimately, very effective! I was hooked, and I'm sure many young minds out there were too.
