Eva Longoria & Tony Parker Engaged

All I want to know is, what does this mean for the Mavs? Hopefully, Eva will keep Tony distracted long enough for the Mavs to win the West again and head off to the finals.

While I was gone...Lance Bass outed himself!

What? Well, it could be said that it wasn't much of an outing, but still. This is what I get for going away for 2 months with minimal contact with Hollywood gossip. And he's dating the Amazing Race winner to boot. Amazing. Now there's news of them breaking up.

I was never much of a 'N Sync-er, so I don't know how the fans are taking it.

I miss Ricky Martin

So I was watching the Olympics Closing ceremony (Yes, it's been in my DVR all this time, and I have yet to watch it), and there was Ricky Martin singing this one song I don't know what it was. He was part of the closing entertainment. He also sang the Cup of Life, which I remember it was being the anthem of the World Cup in what year I don't remember.

What happened to him? After the explosion of Livin' Da Vica Loca, he was gone. And them briefly came back as that longhaired dude. When I say I miss him, I don't mean with a snicker, like OMG! Ricky Martin! I looove him so (snicker). There is no snark in there. Seriously that dude can dance.

Tom Cruise procreated!

Crazy. That's all I'm gonna say.

I'm sure Nicole Kidman was glad she got out of that marriage when she still could. And proof! She came away from that and became a compelling actress. And she debut pretty high on my girl crush list too. Definite top 10, maybe 5.

Man I missed the crazy couch 'sode Cruise had on Oprah. What's everybody talking about? Is that on the 'net. Can I d/l it? My excuse was that I was half way around the world, and Tom Cruise really didn't factor in to my life then.

TV: Emmys

Creative Arts Emmys: Queer Eye won for Outstanding Reality Series or something like that. Yah to them.

Countdown to the Emmys on ABC
  • I tuned in to see Conan + wife being interviewed by Maria Menounos.
  • Maria is a young person at a sophisticated award shows...I don't think the Emmys is VH1 or MTV like. Her voice or "enthusiasm" is a little annoying. I don't picture her interviewing Laura Linney or Gary Sinise. And while I'm at it, why are her hands at her hips all the time?
  • The Muppets? The Muppets? This is what you get before your peers award you the highest honor possible in television. A stop with the Muppets. I'm glad Cheryl Hines was a sport, but it was awkward, nonetheless.
  • Oh...Lady O strikes again!! Arghhh...ew...why? Oh, at least they only got a couple of seconds of TV time. Awww...now I feel bad for her.
  • Yah...the Muppets are interviewing the Fab Five. All right. Aww...too short.
  • I just can't get over the fact that ABC people had Kermit and Miss Piggy doing interviews. I just can't get over it.
  • Debra Messing looks gorgeous.

Emmys, the show
  • I'm tuning in at 9:20pm and saw Allison Jenney win while my gals Jennifer, Amber, and Mariska didn't.
  • I love Sarah Jessica Parker, and I hate her at the same time. The giggling bothers me -- a little. And over doing the acceptance speech. Yeah. With all the superlatives describing the cast, show, people involved etc...
  • Oh...Conan is here. I love him. I love him. In the giddy schoolgirl kind of way.
  • WOW. Arrested Development won!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Oahah...why didn't they let James Gandolfini finish what he was saying?
  • Anyways, THE END.

E! Emmy Award Post show
  • Let me just say that I love Giuliana DePandi and Patrick Stinson as co-hosts of E! News Live.

Selling & buying Britney's "used chewing gum" on ebay

Yahoo! News - Britney's Trash Sold on EBay. Ewww. . .people are selling Britney's chewed gum on Ebay????!!!!! Are people betting on this? Be careful. You might catch something. It might make you have an overwhelming desire to steal some girl's boyfriend. On top of that, the buyer might start wearing skimpy outfits--just because.

Personally, I think it's kinda oogie.

psst...Celeb gossip

I heard a whole bunch of gossip while I was away, and now I come back to find that I've missed even more news.
  • What's this I hear about one of the the Olsen Twins (oops. I forgot) getting herself into rehab for an eating disorder? So Mary-Kate had an eating disorder? And I hear that she's fine now. Considering that she and her sister, Ashley, were tiny to begin with, I feel sorry that she felt the need to starve herself. I feel like I'm coming off really insensitively, so I'm going to stop and thank god that I've never felt like that.

  • And Madonna's new name is Esther?

Blog News:
Played around with the layout again. Surprise. Sometimes, I've way more concerned with the layout than I am with the content of this blog. I finally learnt how to put title graphics on the blog and still keep the title on explorer (or whatever you call it) as PHT. Hooray. It only took me 5+ months to figure this out.

I'm really trying to streamline my blog layout. Sometimes, it feels to cluttered, especailly because I only have 1 sidebar, so I have to put everything down that one column.

I'm taking inspirtation from some amazingly designed and well-written sites out there.

[eww & why]

Fleck Alexander from tvguide.comIf your impersonator has to go through all the trouble to look like you and comes out like this, then you have to recognize what a freak you are. [pic from tvguide.com]

Also, I've seen pics of Britney Spears with her fiancee, Kevin, and his daughter, Kori, all smiling, and it made me gag. The little girl has no idea what's going on, and it makes me ache to think about how this "engagement" fiasco is going to affect her if it turns into an acutally marriage.

hot. sexy. maxim.

I don't usually bother with this kind of trash...um...news, but I'm going to go ahead, and give it a try. Maxim is releasing its Hot 100 list for 2004.

Editors are given the daunting task of selecting which of these women will keep people talking throughout the year. "We single out beautiful women whose careers are on fire," says MAXIM Editor-in-Chief Keith Blanchard. "The selection process is top-secret and extremely labor-intensive. We have two interns working fulltime just keeping our wives and girlfriends out of the room."
Oh, poor them...such a "daunting task." Ah ha.

Guess who tops their list? Well, since this is a men's mag, it's got to be a girl (no surprise there). Hmmm...she's probably gotta be blond. And probably has got some boobies (that's the term I'm using), and let's throw the whole not so smart thing in there just for fun, not that I or Maxim is going the stereotype route. Combine all four factors, and what do you get?

Highlight for answer:

....JESSICA SIMPSON....

Top 10
1. (see above)
2. Beyonce Knowles
3. Christina Aguilera
4. Anna Kournikova
5. Jennifer Lopez
6. Mischa Barton
7. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
8. Paris Hilton
9. Jessica Alba
10. Halle Berry

grammys

My thoughts:
  • What an explosive opening with Prince and Beyonce. No one can shake it like her.
  • ....
  • Christina: The Voice.
  • Andre 3000 (is it?). "Thank You." That was greatness. Oscar people should take a hint from him. Also, I proclaim it: THE BEST SPEECH OF THE NIGHT.
  • JT wins. The rough week comment. Yah. I'm feeling for ya.
  • Wow. Christina's dress. I was afraid for her. But that Janet Jackson comment was lame. Cover up, please.
  • Who is hosting, by the way? Ellen Degeneres? Love her.
  • Beyonce, again. Just amazing, but it's so over done. The dove eating out of her hand???!!!!
  • FUNK! and Sam Jackson. Greatness.
  • Yay for Coldplay. Although I like The Scientist better, I was happy for them.

Also, I can't believe I haven't gotten a response from poeple trying to help me with my essay. It's due tomorrow, you guys :(

UPDATE: I stayed up till 8 am on Monday finishing the paper. So damn tired. Fell asleep and didn't wake up till 3pm. Figures.

"Jackson's apology can't stem mass anger"

ESPN.com - NFL/PLAYOFFS03 - Not just Janet: FCC put off by entire production

"Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration. Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt," Powell [FCC Chairman] said.

MTV Networks Group President Judy McGrath: "I think it was a misguided move on their parts."
Jeez. I can't believe I spent that much time figuring that mess out. Now it's official. They DID plan it. Ok. Now that mystery is over, brace for the backlash. Well, even more backlash.

There's absolutely nothing more I could say about the subject (that's a lie). I mean, it's over, and I'm bored. I'm sure a lot of people are tired. I'll leave it to those who are more able to continue the discussion.

houston...we have a wardrobe malfunction

"I am sorry if anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl. It was not intentional and regrettable."--Justin Timberlake
**NO Janet Jackson exposed boobie here; if you want to see a pic or take a peek, just google it. Hey, I'll help you out, though! Try Yahoo news**

After a night's rest and some time to review all the facts, there is no way that it was an accident. If you saw what she was wearing with all the studs on the breast plate, the piece of clothing couldn't have come off that easily. Plus, JT's hand was conveniently near her right breast when it happened. And JT still had the costume in his hand. If it was an accident, why wouldn't he drop it? What in the world is he trying to pull off? [oh. ha ha. no pun intended. ;) ] Still, why did Janet have the "nipple ring thing" on if it was an accident. Wouldn't it be incredibly uncomfortable? The costume was like a corset. He looked like he wanted to tear the costume off, and he did. Too many things don't add up.

Now comes all the rhetoric. Of course, it was an accident. What would JT and Janet say? They have no choice but to deny, deny, and deny. Now they're sorry? Too late. I'm sure many people wondered what could possibly top the Britney & Madonna kiss. Well, here you go. Except you don't have to watch MTV to see it, just watch one of the most televised sporting events in America: The Super Bowl.

Plus, they've pissed off the FCC. ha. ha. Just fess up. It was stupid. It was a mistake (to want to pull a stunt like that off, not whether he meant to tear the whole piece off). It was a stupid mistake. This is a prime example of bad judgment. JT's apologizing like he knew what he did; he knew before hand what he was going to do, and the backlash is causing him to retract and apologize. I suppose JT was only meant to rip off the breast plate but not the red lining. What a stupid gamble. Just shameless self promotion. I guess JT had to have her naked by the end of the song, but more so than anybody wanted him to.

The half time show wasn't all that great, anyway. I love Josh Gorban's performance, but the astronaut and the moon skit was funny. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but when I saw the astronaut, I keep thinking: "who's that guy in the funny suit?" It seemed cartoonish, not celebratory.

golden globes

The red carpet arrivals on NBC are starting. The show doesn't officially start till 7pm central. I think I'll tune in and out for the show. I can't watch the whole show. But I'm excited to hear the award for TV shows more than movies because I haven't seen that many movies.

Some thoughts:
  • Yah! 24 won for Best TV Drama.

  • WOW. J.Lo was there. I had the sense that it must have been a weird moment for her.
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones is gorgeous.

  • I'm glad Mary-Louise Parker won. Yeah to the boobies shout-out.
  • Yah! for Peter Jackson. I think this is the first time that he won for Best Director. It was the last film, so I bet they wanted to honor him when they still can. I'll be a fan of his for life.

  • I loved Bent it Like Beckham. The only nominee for Best Picture-Comedy I have seen. I must really see Lost in Translation.

  • Lord of the Rings won Best Picture-Drama. Again, yah for them.

  • Lisa Ling was being so serious. I know that she's a reporter for National Geographic something now, but this is a Hollywood award show. She's asking stars some thought provoking questions. I'm not saying that the stars aren't bright enough to answer, but maybe, I'm not used to hearing questions like those. "Who are you wearing?" from Joan and Melissa Rivers seem more appropriate to me because I've been watching E! coverage in the past. Ling seems to be about serious journalism. To me, she's a fish out of water. Flapping around and stuff.

OMG! Bennifer no more!

CNN.com - Lopez announces split from Affleck - Jan. 22, 2004

NEW YORK (AP) -- The on-again, off-again relationship between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez is off. Again.

And this time, it looks like it's for good.

Jennifer Lopez ended the engagement, one of her publicists told The Associated Press on Thursday.

A spokesman for Lopez at Dan Klores Communications said in a statement: "I am confirming the reports that Jennifer Lopez has ended her engagement to Ben Affleck. At this difficult time, we ask that you respect her privacy."

People and Us Weekly magazines first reported the breakup on their Web sites Thursday afternoon.
OMG!!! I can't believe it. Like when she sang (paraphrased): "I'm still Jenny from the Block, don't be fooled by the rocks that I got," I totally believed her. OMG!! How can this be? :(

Blah. Surprise. Surprise. This marriage thing was just as fake as her singing those lines. I'm sad when two people break up, but they monopolized the media, and to a certain extent, allowed themselves to be mocked and ridiculed. Affleck even admitted that they exposed too much of themselves to the media. I can't feel too sorry for them when they flaunted their relationship.

I can't believe I'm learning about this now. Wow. To think, I spent a whole day worry about PE instead of Ben and Jen's breakup. But, maybe I'm taking this thing way too seriously. What a shame. No more Bennifer jokes. Onward to "Jacko" I guess.
