Linkin Park is sooo emo!

Linkin Park: band of 6. According to Rollingstone.com: "Linkin Park's wide - ranging musical tastes are reflected in the group's music, an eclectic hybrid of hard rock, hip - hop and rap."
emo: Stands for "emotional." originally refers to "emotional music," but the meaning has broaden into a style, culture, and way of life. Sort of like punk with emotion? (that's my understanding of it. Think Good Charlotte, I guess)

What the heck *is* emo, anyway? That's what I'm wondering. I've heard it enough. Even Seth Cohen admits he's a sometimes emo. But if it's just short for "emotional" and refers to music, then can't I make a case that Linkin Park is emo? I guess LP and SC don't really go together. I think LP is too teenage-boy-angst to be "emo"tional? Maybe Rooney is emo. Seth did go to their concert. I'm listening to LP's 3-15-04 concert. Great stuff. I'm not dissing them; I'm acknowledge their greatness. I normally don't admit to liking this type of "hardcore" music, at least hardcore for me, but I surprising like them. I will say that it's as far as I'll go. I can't stand much more screaming in my music. Plus, I was kidding about the title. Really.
Making "swell" cool & hip again
Because I have a lot of free time (or I like to think I do), I'm going to do a service for pop culture. I think "swell" should be reinvented as a hip word to use. I believe "swell" existed in "old" movies of yore. It could make a comeback; I'm telling ya. I'd like to make my endorsement for it's comeback tour, especially when "emo" is riding high as the "in" word to use. Why not bring back a classic? Vintage is always so celebrate. People love one of a kind stuff. I recently saw a clothing line of the same name (Swell), so I'm not way off.
