TV:#1.8: missed shows

The Ancient Days of Teenage Drama. Recalling the old days of My So-Called Life, and the new crop of teen drama that it spawned. NOG/N is airing MSCL, so be sure to check it out. I caught it on MTV years ago, and I was in love with Jared Leto from that moment on.

The Swan. Um...yeah, it's a great idea. First, take "ugly ducklings" and transform them into beautiful women by way of plastic surgery. Give them a chance of a lifetime. Wait, that' not all. Build up their self-esteem, and then systematically tear it down. Have the ladies compete in a beauty contest where some will win, and others will, again, be made to feel inadequate. The message: they're not good enough either way. They’re not good enough even when they have had plastic surgery. That's right. Subject them to another round of judgment and ridicule. How does this make any sense? It's hypocritical. My guess...it's on FOX. Right? Tell me it's on FOX, and I'll believe it more. I'll at least understand where this crap is coming from. And, I'm not going to let NBC get away with Average Joe either.

Wonderfalls Recap
I miss the first 10-15 minutes, so I was disoriented during the whole episode. I have such a wide, satisfying smile on my face when I'm watching this show. Must be because it's actually good! On Jaye's part, the story was all right. Some great moments like her recounting to Eric, what Jaye hold his wife about him not being able to come to the phone. The best part has to go to Sharon. The scenes with her preparing milk and cookies and delivering them to her dad was hilarious because it was so over-the-top creepy. On to my favorite part, best quotations of the night:
  • "Eric can't talk now because he's servicing me sexually."
  • "Honey, did you know our basic cable shows lesbian porn?"
  • "You may be the universe's butt-puppet, but I am its right-hand Fist Of Fate."
  • "Tense? I'm not tense. I'm so far from tense... I'm past tense!"
  • "Carpool. Have you gone Green?"
  • "I think Sharon's really a closet environmentalist."
Joan of Arcadia
All right! It's back. It's nice to be able to watch JoA after I've been WF mad the past three weeks. Recap: I missed the first 10 to 15 minutes again...so I really didn't know what God wanted Joan to do. I'm thinking...go learn the piano? I saw the connection between her piano teacher and her dad: It's never too late. Anyways, I'm excited about Joan and Adam's evolving relationship. It's been a slow, restrained sort of deal with each of them trying to figure out their feelings, but now I bet they'll go all out.
