ED's going bye bye

What's this? All of a sudden, NBC is airing promos saying that it's Ed's final episode. That came out of nowhere, at least for me. Again, I'm complaining about a network axing my favorite TV show, but they're canceling shows that are great. Yes. Please keep Fear Factor (or any other annoying reality TV) on, but cancel a charming dramedy. Although it's my personal, biased opinion, I still believe that the networks are replacing "quality programming" and replacing it with highly rated, but just plain stupid reality TV shows. Yes. I used reality TV twice. I don't know the exact reason for Ed's cancellation, but I would assume it had something to do with the ratings. Sigh. Most great, promising TV shows suffer from poor ratings.

However, I'm not against all Reality TV. But, if it comes at the expense of a great show, then the rational is stupid. Reality TV is quick ratings and quick bucks, but shows like Ed, Keen Eddie or even Firefly takes time to settle and find their audiences. Networks are bad at nurturing shows because they take time to grow and find their little nitch in TV land. Time being the operative word.

Man, if only I controlled all the network decisions and programming. I bet people would hate me, but I won't be complaining anymore.
