Thank God, Kids can still do nothing.

Servi-Tourism - Community service, three-star style. By Ann Hulbert. Hulbert contemplates sending her son on a community service trip to Costa Rica as part of the Global Routes program because of the increasing requirements for community service to boost a high schooler's resume for college. However, an expensive trip doesn't guarantee success.
Colleges evidently wouldn't mind less glitz and more grit, either, it was a relief to learn at a recent school meeting for parents of next year's juniors. According to the principal, one admissions person at a prestigious college confessed that as essay after essay about service and soul-searching in Costa Rica arrived in the office, the committee members sighed and tossed them aside.
I did nothing throughout high school and the first two years of college. WOOHOO! This gives slackers hope that overachieving is not always the answer.
