Olympics

NBC is not showing live coverage, yet they are posting real time results on their website. Does this make sense to anyone? The TV schedule shows the events yet to come, but the result is already posted for those events. How does that make the slightest sense?

And, I'll go and check CNN or Yahoo Sports where the results are already posted. Shucks. But this way, I'm not emotionally involved in the race or competition so at least I can breath easy.

I'd like to congratulate the Thai women's weightlifters.

Swimming: I've been watching lots of swimming, well, because the big story is MP, and the NBC hype machine at is best is keeping me entertained, and I really like the swimming commentary. Enjoyed the US v. Auz swimming events. It's sad that I only see some swimmers once every four years--big stars of the sport like Lenny Krayzelburg, Alexander Popov, Gary Hall Jr., Ian Thorpe, and Inge de Bruijn etc...

I see a lot of Texas swimmers out their on the team. And the US head coach is also Texas head coach, so they must have an awesome swim team there. Yah for Texas.

The 200m freestyle and the 4x200m freestyle relay were amazing. Particularly the latter. The women’s 4x200 freestyle relay was awesome.

Gymnastics: I can't believe the headlines are screaming the US women "settled" for the silver. Huh? Like the Romanians didn't deserve their gold. The Romanians were the better team, and they deserved to win no matter what the US newspapers were saying about how the US has a chance to win gold again. The US women's gymnasts listened to people forecasting that they would win gold, and look at their reaction when they didn’t--they looked disappointed, but hello--it's a silver metal at the Olympic Games. There’s nothing to hang your head low about.

Don't always believe the hype and let your dreams intertwine with the hype that the media create. It's a dangerous mix that can end in disappointment.

Random Thoughts:

• Haven’t been watching tennis at all because it's on Bravo, but I am following the news.
  
• Saw a little bit of the men's and women's sabre competition. Pretty awesome sport.
  
• I love watching women's volleyball though the US is not playing its best.
  
• The synchronize driving is pretty cool. Saw the Greece men's Gold win. Unbelievable how the Chinese, Russia, and US faltered when they all had a chance for gold.
  
• I haven't seen any women's synch swimming. Am I missing it or it hasn't started yet?
  
• Handball is weird but awesome at the same time.
