thoughts on Olympics so far

I love the Olympics. I mean, I love it. There's no greater sporting celebration in the world. I'm getting all chocked up, and I'm not even competing. Wow. What must go through the flag bearer's minds?

Opening ceremony. Loved the history assembly line they did with human made into figures of the past. And thank you to Katie and Bob for explaining the parade. I don't really know that much Greek history.

So far, watched a little bit of everything or what ever NBC and Co. threw at me.

All right to Michael Phelps for winning his first gold. He's like the Apolo Anton Ohno of the Summer Olympics. Ohno was touted to win a possible 4 golds, but he walked away with a gold and silver, still awesome results. I don't think Phelps will win all 8 golds, but I'm sure he'll walk away with a lot/more than enough. Note: I think ABC showed a little short trach speed skating (is that it?) after the winter Olympics, which I thought was very cool of them. But now the coverage is all but disappeared.

Well I just saw the headlines: USA Men’s won the bronze in the 4x100m free relay.

And the head scratcher moment has to go to the USA Men's Basketball Team. I'm watching their open with Puerto Rico, and I'm worried. I understand that this team lacks international experience although it does have some phenomenal NBA players. Wait, USA is coming back. It's getting more competitive in the 4th. Just saw USA lost to Puerto Rico. Disappointing.
