TV: #1.1

I've made an executive decision and decided that I can't handle having three different blogs, so I'm cutting my TV one. I know, I know that some of you will be disappointed and some won't give a sh*t cuz you don't read my blog anyways. Oh well. I just like to be clear with the public. I think I'll still keep my lit blog because there's enough separate material I can introduce there. So that does it. Instead of having a separate blog for TV, I'm just going to do, like, a column called "What's on Tonight" and discuss TV related material here. Otherwise, I'll have no material for this blog, my main blog, because half, if not most, of what I write about are TV related.

So here is the first installment of "What's on Tonight" for Friday, March 19, 2004 (BTW, I have no idea if this will be a daily, weekly or whenever-I-have-time-thing.):

Hello CouchPotatoes, WELCOME to all things TV. I guess I should say some introductory remarks, this being the first issue and all. Well, I guess you guessed that there's few things I love more than television. You know what I'd like more than that? A TiVo or perhaps Replay TV? (Hey, I'm just putting it out there.) Speaking of TiVos and Replay TVs, there's an article in the NYT that documents the rise in popularity of these awesome (Seth Cohen awesome) machines...Next comes some highlights for the night:

Wonderfalls, 9pm ET/PT, FOX
Please read my earlier post about Wonderfalls, a new show from FOX. It's greatness, and I'd like to point to you greatness, so you may experience greatness. So please try to catch the show. In my earlier post, which should really be WoT's (What's on Tonight?) first installment, I've included links to the show's website and other articles written about the show, including a NYT interview with one of the creators. Here, I'm including a message from one of the producers, Tim Minear (of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly if I'm correct), asking the viewing public to just give this show a chance!

I've been thinking that maybe it really wouldn't be jumping the gun if someone already, or was planning on creating a SAVE WONDERFALLS PETITION, like the Angel one, (oh, please sign it if you haven't) because it's a 'highly praise/critically acclaimed but lowly-rated/ratings challenged show.' A familiar phrase for any fan who has been let down by a network (or the viewing public) that never gave his or her show a chance.

I hate to be too negative about a show that has just aired its first 'sode, but I got the impression that many critics didn't think it would last too long. Despite my pessimistic outlook for this show, there's still a chance it might make it till the end of the season or (gasp!) make a return for a second season. Just watch this show! It airs tonight. Be sure to catch it. I believe the pilot, Wax Lion, was reaired on Thursday. Anywho, WATCH AND SUPPORT THIS SHOW. PERIOD.
On tonight's episode: "Karma Chameleon." Jaye is told to help a stutterer “get her words out,” but she'd prefer to get the woman out of town when she copies Jaye's hairstyle, job and interest in Eric.--TVGuide.com

Joan of Arcadia, 8pm ET/PT, CBS
I felt it fitting to move to another show that many have compared to Wonderfalls and vice versa. Both feature female leads who are asked by God or inanimated objects to do certain things both are not aware of immediate the consquences of their actions. Of course, the one main difference is GOD. Joan is directed by God to perform these task whereas, in Wonderfalls, no one knows who or what is talking to Jaye (I know the objects are, but is a higher person speaking through them). I don't think it'll be addressed either. CNN ran a recent story about JoA. Read here. Tonight's episode is replaced by basketball. Catch it next week though.

Crossing Jordan, 10 ET/PT, NBC
It's baccccck! I like this show, and despite a gazzillion crime shows out there, this one is pretty good.
On tonight's episode: "Is That Plutonium in Your Pocket, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?" An offbeat episode (in which Jill Hennessy doesn't appear) involves plutonium and the FBI. --TVGuide.com

Four Weddings and A Funeral, 8 ET/PT, ABC
I saw this ages ago, and I'm sure it's still pretty good. I don't remember anything except that Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant are in it. That's enough reason to watch it, right?

EDIT: I've gotten rid of the "What's on tonight" banner and replaced it with plain old "TV." -- 9/28/04
