LOL...I don't wanna grow up yet!!!!

A lot of my posts are stream of consciousness stuff. Maybe you notice the several topics in one post, separated by paragraphs. And I’m going to do it now…

I’ve recently learned what TGIF means. Thank god it’s Friday! Ya know, the ad that ABC is airing. I’ve heard of it before from the restaurant and my old hair cut place has a similar name. Phew! I’m really relieved that I know now. You feel incredibly left out if you don’t know what an acronym is. And you don’t want to ask anyone because you feel like a moron for not knowing what everyone else seems to know.

Also, I really hate LOL. It’s soooo irritating. Here’s the back-story on that: I had no idea what that meant. To tell you the truth, I had no idea what a lot of words used in chatting meant, and now I realize I came across pretty interesting words that I’m glad I didn’t ask my parents what it meant. I just let them slip by. I ignored it. Thank god I did! So anyways, in my earlier days of chatting, people would type LOL and I’ll have no idea what it meant. Additional, because of my inexperience with word definitions, I was hesitant to reply back. Look, LOL could have meant a million things. How was I supposed to know? So I’d try to change the subject fast, or just abruptly end the conversation…like…ok…bye…thank you and see ya later! I didn’t want to sound clueless. And I had no one to ask either. Now, when I see LOL in messages, my BP level rises. I vehemently hate that word. It’s so….LOL! Ya know, come up with a better word or combination of letters, please! How about: hahahah or bwahaha…that’s my substitute.

I see that word or similar words used in many blogs. I'm not dissing those people. It's just that...I hate LOL and such related words. Many bloggers who write like this: HeLlo...mY pEePs, HoW aRe yOu? They’re in their teens. Now...wait, I hate to generalize but that's often the case. And eventually, I hope people will outgrow that phase. Not only do I hate that kind of language, but I'm also surprise by how young many bloggers are that use it. It's kind of creepy how young they are, and they're publishing their whole lives for people to see. It's disturbing. Am I wrong to think that predators are looking for those vulnerable kids? Kids are growing up faster and faster. It’s so hard to tell them that it’s ok to take their time.

It’s the same thing that I see at malls. Words to describe how young teens dress today: short and tight. They go to the malls together, often unsupervised. I look at them with disgust and envy. I remember being 13 or 15 or whatever age…listening to the BSB and a thousand other love songs. I’d listen to them before bed and going to sleep with pleasant dreams before I became cynical. It’s tough. I’m an idealist turned cynic, with a little idealism left. On one hand, I hate that they are missing a great, idyllic childhood and opting for adulthood they’re not prepared for. On the other hand, I wish I were like them. I’ll get to just shop and hang out with friends without any thought of responsibility what so ever. Everything is rosy and peachy.
