I'm really into vintage posters. I haven't come across many, but I really like them. Especially vintage travel posters. Those places seem so exotic, and many of them are, but the images portrayed on the posters speak to a different generation, a different beat.
I'd really like to immerse myself in Blues/Jazz. I've been getting the bug for some blues/jazz. I got a jazz book, but I need to actually listen to some jazz greats.
I'd like some of these on my icky, off white or off cream wall:
Henri Matisse
Icarus (Jazz), 1947
Cut Paper
Henri Matisse
Lithograph"Affiches Originales" series
1959
Ok, I'm a big Henri Matisse fan. Why aren't there any cheap posters of the collage? I don't need one that costs >$30.
I really wished I could have gone to the Matisse Picasso exhibition at MOMA. What a wonderful experience that could have been. I wished that I studied more art history. I had the chance to take art history, but I chicken out. I want to be an art history buff. If I really had enough courage, I would be an art historian. And a proud one at that!
But, alas, I'm stuck in the hell that is I'm-tryin-my-darnest-to-figure-out-what-the-hell-I'm-going-to-spend-my-life-doing exercises. Great fun. Those people who have never experienced this sensation need to get on it. Get on the bus, if only for once around the block, because it'll make you miserable, and people need doses of misery in their lives. Once in a while. If you're not into the bus ride thing, then take a bitter pill, and look ahead 10, 20 years, and tell me that you'll be fulfilled by then...
Liar!
P.S. The last paragraph had nothing to do with the title, but declaring my love for vintage posters did. I sort of got off track.
